The short version: your work never leaves your device. Every image, video, camera frame, screen capture and audio track you use in Dithers is processed entirely inside your browser. Nothing you create or upload is ever sent to a server.
What stays on your device
- Media and audio. Files you drop in are read locally and never uploaded. Camera and screen capture render straight to your canvas.
- Exports. Images and videos are encoded in your browser and saved directly to your device.
- Settings and shapes. Presets, scenes and your uploaded shape library are stored in your browser's local storage, on your machine only.
- Share links. A share link encodes your settings into the link itself. Embedded images travel inside the link data, not through a server.
What we measure
To understand which features matter, Dithers records anonymous usage events such as "a preset was applied" or "a video was exported at 4K", using PostHog. These events never include your content, file names, or anything identifying you. No advertising trackers, no fingerprinting, no selling of data, ever.
Feedback
If you send feedback from inside the app, your message plus basic technical context (browser, screen size, active settings) goes to us so we can reproduce problems. That is the only time anything you type leaves your browser, and only because you pressed send.
